Jason
Schwartzberg
President & Co-Founder
Jason is a leading energy entrepreneur and a pioneer in energy cost reduction and financial solutions for commercial property owners. He co-founded MD Energy Advisors (MDEA) after identifying the need for an energy company that could help the real estate community reduce energy spend to maximize profitability and leads the company's financial solutions division.
Â
In his capacity as President, Jason oversees strategic initiatives and the vision of the organization with a steadfast focus on Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (CPACE). CPACE is an innovative financing tool that makes it possible for owners of commercial, industrial and other non-residential properties to obtain low-cost, long-term financing for energy efficiency, water conservation and renewable energy projects. To date, Jason and his team have secured more than $350MM in financing across 20 transactions in five states for new construction projects, capital improvement projects, and retroactive projects (within 36-months of certificate of occupancy) to replenish operating reserves, provide principal pay downs to senior lenders, and equity disbursements.
Â
Under Jason’s leadership, and with the support of a talented team that grew more than 60% year over year and more than 360% since 2020, MDEA has been recognized by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) as a 100 fastest-growing business in under-resourced communities across the nation for three consecutive years.
Â
Prior to starting MDEA, Jason served as Development Manager for A&R Development and as an Economic Development Officer for Baltimore Development Corporation, where one of his key projects was Baltimore’s first casino.
Â
He is a past president of the alumni association for McDonogh School, serves on the real estate committee for The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore and is a board member for Northwest Hospital. Jason earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Loyola University Maryland, a bachelor’s degree in government from Franklin & Marshall College, and is a graduate of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.
